A young sun journeys into darkness, hoping to find four souls who have gone missing.
Love is a young spirit destined to become a sun. She has grown up in safety, surrounded by hundreds of other future suns, moons, and planets. For a time, it seems her greatest concern is whether she will be a lone star or have the privilege of sustaining life. However, everything changes when Love learns of the Lost Four: four souls said to have been stolen before birth and lost in the Wither—a forest full of darkness where young spirits like Love could lose their identities and ultimate destinies. Suddenly, Love is no longer focused on her own future. Instead, she becomes consumed by the plight of the Four and resolves to find them and bring them home.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE:
I love stories with sun and moon themes, like Mune: Guardian of the Moon. For "Souls & Stars", I wanted to reach for that on a much grander and more literal scale: The story features literal suns and moons, depicted as humanoids, who experience a birth and the refining trials of childhood before ultimately becoming celestial bodies in the cosmos.
"Souls & Stars" is technically the origin story of Continuum-8 Galaxy because every astrophysical object that you'll ever hear me talk about in any of my stories has a sentient soul that began life in the same way, and in same place, as Love!
