Several years ago, an evil coup initiated the War of Darkness. Now, history threatens to repeat.

Several years ago, The Guardian Tree of Triland was felled, enabling the rise of evil magic. Though the Council of Kings and Virtue Heralds emerged the victors in the subsequent war against dark wizards, Triland has not returned to a state of peace and prosperity. Tension and conflict have remained, and now an increasing number of robbers denotes the return of the dark threat. With no escape and no Guardian Tree, it seems like the War of Darkness will reoccur in an indefinite cycle forever. ...Unless the individual efforts of a family fleeing from persecution, a whistleblower, a deadly creature in the care of a child queen, a separated pair of mysterious twins, and a lonely bookworm can lead the way to an unexpected solution.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE:

Phew! That sounds like a lot, doesn't it? Well, that's why I've broken it into 6 seasons.

"Tales of Opia" draws inspiration from a lot of different places: The Lord of The Rings, The Wingfeather Saga, The Legend of Zelda, The Dragon Prince, Harry Potter, Ronja: The Robber's Daughter, Jim Henson's Labyrinth-- Even classic fairytales like Beauty & The Beast and Snow White!

As you can imagine, this series has been really tricky to figure out because it breaks pretty hard from the classic fantasy rule; where the fate of the world is left to a small, solitary group of people. It seems to me that if the whole world is threatened, the whole world should be involved. That's why each season of the series will follow the efforts of a different group, until everything finally converges at the climax.
